Initial Velocity

 

The boundary condition "Initial Velocity" is used in dynamic problems to specify the velocity of the elements of the system at the initial instant of time t = 0. To specify the Initial Velocity, use one of the following methods:

_FEMAIVEL

Main Menu:

AutoFEM | Initial Conditions | Initial Velocity

Icon:

After invoking this command, it is necessary to select the body (or several bodies) for applying the load. They will be added to the list.


The command dialogue

It is necessary to specify:

magnitude of initial velocity;

units: m/sec2, cm/sec2, in/sec2;

direction;

in the properties window.

 

A typical sequence of steps to specify the Initial Velocity:

1.Initiate command Initial Velocity .

2.Specify the value of velocity.

3.Specify the direction of the velocity  at the initial instant of time t=0.

4.Complete the command.
